Very good, realistic story of loving couple exploring control and submission.

I'm not normally a lover of FemDomme stories, most I find are harsh, have sadistic and vindictive female characters I loathe, and the males can be so pathetic as masochistic subs.
So...how different and what a lovely surprise this was.

This is about Laci and her husband Cole, long time married, who find themselves with an empty nest when their son leaves for uni. Having experienced this time in my life, and so will many others who read this; it is usually a time when many marriages can and do hit the rocks...but not Laci and Cole. Laci begins to acknowledge her dominant side, her need for control and begins to explore and experiment on and with Cole. Cole is very much the man, but his love is for Laci and seeing her happy and in control he finds excites him sexually too, though at times with trepidation.

I love the fact you get both characters points of view. I also love this very real feel to the story and events therein. I can see this happening...and see many wishing they were as these two at play...though in whatever role suits each individual.

This story has realism, has humour, shows Laci a character who needs control, but also shows her underlying insecurities, shows courage and has ingenious ideas for sex play that many will probably want to try out variations on a theme for themselves, shows a couple who continue to develop their sex life and are not afraid to explore, saying yes, but equally can say no.

I enjoyed this debut novel by Donna Jay...and would be happy to read more of this couple, especially areas hinted at with prostate stimulation. Cole's response was so spot on (excuse the pun) for most males...until they try it!

Mature couple gets their sexy on

This is a fun and sexy story of a mature married couple who are still hot for each other. They decide to stretch their wings, so to speak, when their son goes off to college, leaving them empty nesters. Laci has always had a bit of a dominant streak and decides she wants to explore that more with her loving husband. Cole is just a bit hesitant at first, but realizes he can relax with Laci--she would never hurt him--and finds that her dominance turns him on, as well!

This story details their experimentation and the feelings it brings up in both of them. This is not a deep, angsty story full of drama and conflict. Instead, it shows the trust and love this couple feels for each other and how the switch up enhances their sex life. The sexy scenes are hot and the flashes of humor increase the fun. I enjoyed Laci and her antics, and I really loved Cole. He is all male, not the least bit a doormat. Laci's dominance does not emasculate him. Instead, submitting to her shows how confidant in his own masculinity and how strong his bond is with his wife.

This is a D/s story without cruelty or darkness. It would appeal not only to those interested in the femdom genre, but to anyone who enjoys a good romance.

sexy and witty

There were so many things I enjoyed about Laci and Cole’s story. Working in a mostly male dominated industry for most of my life, I was able to connect with Laci instantly. Cole was sexy, funny, and I loved how he was down for (almost) everything Laci surprised him with.
While I’m definitely a fan of broody darkness and tormented characters, I didn’t miss that sort of angst one bit in this story. It had so many other wonderful emotional aspects to hold my interest in every chapter. It’s so refreshing to read about characters 30+, especially a warm loving couple like Laci & Cole. I loved how they weren’t billionaires or magazine models; just a real, normal couple looking to spice things up in their love life. I really enjoyed the witty banter between the two, and every sentence was smart and well thought out.
This new author has brought a wonderful story to the femdom world; one that's believable, sexy and heartwarming all at the same time. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to dip their toes into the lighter side of BDSM, a female-led relationship or just looking for a hot and steamy read that’s fun and different, and I look forward to reading more!

A Rendezvous with Realtime Reality

This book appears to encapsulate the themes of Mr. Ganssle's enjoyable magazine articles. As in his columns he has preserved his chatty prose style without seeming too smug about it.
Though Mr. Ganssle presents his ideas very clearly, there are times when more schematics drawings or illustrations would be helpful. In addition, his books contain few code examples; but the ones that are there are very useful. He makes up for these shortcomings by putting forward very practical suggestions to help the reader work smarter.
The biggest criticism I have has to do with the price. I had the opportunity to examine the book before I purchased it, so it was somewhat easier for me to judge the book's value than someone buying it sight unseen. However, this factor will aid me in making future judgments about other books offered by his publisher.
In the final analysis, any embedded software engineer, striving toward the elusive goal of being a better professional, will find valuable suggestions to that end in this book.

outdated but has useful tips for low level programming

Jack Ganssle writes VERY GOOD articles on embedded programming for the magazine Embedded Systems Programming which is probably the best technical magazine available for embedded SW guys. His book has some very useful tips regarding low level programming/debugging issues. The kind of tips most people learn on the job and you will not learn in school. However, overall it is too loosely structured for newbies and kinda outdated for people doing 32 bit work. The current price is also outrageous (I got my 1st edition much cheaper). Save your money and get a subscription to Embedded Systems Programming instead. Not as bad a book as Dr. Hussain states but its not worth $85 either!

Solid techniques and advice for embedded development

The sections on self-test and boot diagnostics, NMI usage and emulator gotchas were most valuble to me. I generally agreed with the author's comments on design and software reuse.
As another reviewer noted, the text is a little dated i.e JTAG is available on most of the systems I work with and there are several assembly language and BASIC code listings.
Readers should be careful applying the code in the chapter on approximations. For example, the code repeatedly performs polynomial evaluations using the form a0 + a1*x + a2*x*x + ... ; it may have been written this way to be understandable (if so, it should be noted) but it is very computationally expensive. I would probably compare them to "Numerical Recipes in C" before using them.
I'm glad to see embedded programming addressed in a book and would welcome a future version that addresses DSP, HW/SW co-design and an example application of real-time UML.

Excellent Prep for Exam 70-178 and Thorough Overview of MS Project 2010

I sat the beta exam for Microsoft exam 70-178 on 12/31/10 and thought that this book did an excellent job in preparing me for the material! (Update: I found out in February 2011 that I passed the beta, using only this book to prepare.) The book covered 95% or more of what I saw on the exam, which you'll know is pretty good if you've taken other MS exams and used other study material. You can't really ask for more. You do, however, have to learn everything in the book - if its in the book it must be in there for a reason - i.e. it is covered on the exam - so don't take any shortcuts - learn it all.

What's best about this book, however, is that it really wasn't written as just being an exam study guide. It is written as a MS Project 2010 how-to manual with lots of practical real-world advice on both using MS Project and Project Management in general. The author rarely mentions the actual test. I read the book with mastering all the ins and outs of MS Project 2010 as my primary goal and then circled back and reviewed the exam objectives while referring back to the book on a second pass. I was delighted to find that Mr. Happy had covered pretty much all of the objectives so I didn't have to turn to other sources to prep for the exam. I also learned a lot about MS Project.

I highly recommend this book to all users of MS Project - whether you want to take the exam or not. I would also recommend this book to both experienced PMs and novices alike. It will really solidify and round out your MS Project knowledge! (I am a PMP with many years of experience as a PM and using MS Project.)

Worked as Advertised

I've used MS Project for over two decades, but decided to get certification for Project 2010. In reviewing the study books available, this particular text seemed a good combination of price and content, and I was not disappointed. To prepare for the exam, I secured a 60-day evaluation copy of MS Project Professional 2010 from Microsoft at no cost, then purchased this book. I used the book as a study guide, following chapter by chapter and completing all exercises. Much of the content was familiar, but the ribbon is new so navigation has changed quite a bit, and there are quite a few new features that are very handy (e.g. Task Inspector, Team Planner, Timeline). I scheduled my exam two weeks out prior to finishing the book to keep the pressure on. Then, I created a spreadsheet of all the areas to be covered on the exam as described on the Microsoft website, and reviewed each and every one of them until I was very comfortable with the subject material. I took the test this past weekend at the Prometric office, and was pleased with a very good score. The test was not easy, as you had to carefully read and answer each question, and it really required knowledge of key features and navigation in the software. I felt the book was well aligned with the test requirements, and the author was knowlegeable in the use of the software as well as good project management practices.

Bottom line - the investment was well worth it, and much cheaper than a 4 day online or instructor led course.

I would have given this a 5, I think the graphics could have been a bit larger. Just a personal opinion. I think the link to PMBOK is very helpful, although at times it does make the flow slightly jerky. The author refers to sections in Chapters coming up, then jumps back to the current chapter, perhaps this is unavoidable in some cases, but I think by doing this less, the flow may have been more even.
It isn't until the 4th chapter the reader actually gets into MS Project. The first 3 chapters are meant as a foundation, and I think this is helpful, even for those in the profession.
This will be a useful reference tool in my collection - and I found myself reading through a few chapters, then doing the exercises.

About the Author
Walton is professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College Graduate School (beginning Fall 2001). Previously he was professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. His several books on the Old Testament include Ancient Israelite Literature in Its Cultural Context, Chronological and Background Charts of the Old Testament and (with Andrew E. Hill) A Survey of the Old Testament.

About the author Matthews is professor of religion at Southwest Missouri State University. He has written several books on the Old Testament, including Manners and Customs in the Bible: An Illustrated Guide to Life in Bible Times, (with James Moyer) The Old Testament: Text and Context and (with Don C. Great book! Its a light read and doesn't have footnotes that list the references, but if you need the documentation just pick up Walton's NIV commentary on Genesis. I would highly recommend this book as a quick reference to understand the ancient Near Eastern culture

About the Author
